About Ruth

I am Ruth Farris a abstract realism artist who loves painting nature with lots of vibrant color!

A little about me, my love of nature was first introduced as a pre-teen going on my first camping trip and enjoying the quiet-filled moments praying amongst the trees. As I grew up it was one of the rare moments of peace in life. That remembrance of tranquility and peace in my childhood was crucial in the coming years!

If you know anything about me, I have had my own struggles with mental health thoughout my life I fought hard for and struggled with healing! All while growing and strengthening in my faith learning to treasure the people who poured love and grace in my life. Now I am in a position to speak and share about that journey through my art! Showing how the hills and valleys molded me into the person I am today!

Now a little bit about my art process!

I love to play with spray-paints and acrylics, but just as important is the oil stage which adds layers and depth to my art! It adds that last punch I need! In my art there is often a memory or a specific emotion I am trying to communicate to others. Hopefully my art can leave others inspired, motivated, and encouraged!

Next stage in my life!

I plan to save for my very first tiny house with my tiny art studio. Living simple appeals to me greatly, it allows for me to more active in my life without sacrificing the things I enjoy! Right now, you can find my work at a local boutique in east mesa called “what’s up buttercup” boutique. stay tuned for any updates of future art festivals!

Ruth Farris Art

“Mirror soul” 30x24

“If the Eye is a mirror of the soul? Can it tell of all of your struggles? All the defeats and the victories? Can your beauty tell of your inner battles against yourself? The surface of your beauty is only the beginning of the Real journey.”

“Kindred Spirits” 20x16

What is family? Is it blood? or something greater and deeper? A child’s story of adoption is always going to be one of choosing and pursuit of belonging. My greatest hope he grows up knowing his family’s love for him.

“Freedom Unchained”

When does the warfare on the heart break away and peace and hope can be felt? How sweet that victory will taste! This painting takes you on my own journey of mental health battles. My journey was one mixed bag. But despite everything both my faith and art were consistent throughout my life to lift my spirits. Now the joys far outweigh my struggles. May this painting bring hope to you all!

“Summer Dreams” 11x14

Whispers of childhood…as I put together inspiration for my first book, I look and reflect on the beauty of the ocean waves in summer and yet still embrace the desert landscape of home.

“Dawn of a New Day” 11x14

On a cool spring morning the superstition mountains are truly beautiful and majestic.

“Magic Within” 36x36

As a child do you remember the childlike wonder and awe that would be in the ordinary? I remember being in awe with nature? Loving the stories of old? I remember loving to listen to the wind in the trees. I enjoyed being imaginative and building moss villages when camping.

This painting is the hope that I will never grow so disillusioned with the world that I lose the childlike faith and wonder.

“Over the Horizon” 16x20

What is the landscape of tomorrow? With faith and hope will we one day see over the horizon?

“Enduring Love” 24x18

How brave a mother’s heart is? How warm her embrace is? Her protection can be a very safe place to rest. I will be forever thankful for a praying mother’s embrace.

“Allure of Transformation” 24x18

What do you envision the transformation process looking like? It’s never a linear journey, nor a painless experience but the joys and beauties far outweigh the hardships that litter the pathway. May this inspire and encourage all who are on the journey to change.

“Sunset Girl” 36x24

Apart of my Many faces of healing collection. Healing is never a linear process, but it can be freeing and victorious in the pursuit of it! This painting shows this woman who is deep into her journey of healing and along that path is able to find peace and joy.

“Joyous Dance” 36x36

Do you remember what it was like to dance with your siblings in the grass? to climb trees? to build forts? My hope is that I never forget the innocence and joys of my childhood and the beauty of the ordinary things that you take for granted.
